New Zealand Cricketer | Top-Order Batsman

 

Tayden Smit is a New Zealand cricketer and top-order batsman who has built his experience through representative, club and overseas cricket.

 

His cricket journey has included Northern Districts Under-19 cricket, Counties Manukau men's cricket, Premier cricket with Manukau City Cricket Club, and cricket in Australia and England. Tayden also represented Sunshine Coast in the KFC T20 Max tournament in Queensland. In which is scored 20+ in is first match at only 18 years old.

Tayden also represented Saint Kentigern's First XI for 4 years. In his final year, he was named cricketer of the year for all Auckland schools. 

Tayden is mainly known for his batting and has continued to develop his game across different formats and playing environments, with a focus on becoming a stronger top-order batsman.

 

Tayden's cricket career started in New Zealand before moving into representative and men's cricket. He spent two years representing Northern Districts at Under-19 level before stepping up to senior cricket with Counties Manukau.

 

He has also played overseas, inclduing Australia, and later in England.

 

Tayden is a right-handed top-order batsman. His batting development has focused on building an all-round game, including scoring against spin, rotating the strike, finding boundary options and adapting to different match situations.

 

He has also worked on his power-hitting and red-ball batting, while continuing to improve his fitness and fielding.

Tayden continued his cricket journey in England, playing for Horsforth Hall Park in the Airedale & Wharfedale cricket competition. Impressively scoring over 1,000 runs in his first season, which included 3 centuries.
